Workshop: How to Adopt an Open Textbook for a Community College Class

Wednesday February 3, Rice University, Houston, TX 10:30am-3:30pm

Co-sponsored by the Houston Community College System, Rice University, the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources, and the Community College Open Textbook Collaborative funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation

Community College faculty members, administrators, librarians, bookstore managers, on-line learning coordinators, instructional designers, instructional technologists, and other staff are invited to become Open Textbook Advocate/Trainers by participating in this workshop and then providing a similar workshop on their campuses. Travel expenses and a stipend are available.

Other interested parties are invited to the workshop on a space-available basis; travel expenses will be reimbursed and lunch is provided.

All participants are invited to an on-line pre-workshop presentation 3pm-4pm CST Wednesday January 27 and the face-to-face workshop 10:30am-2:30pm on February 3 at Rice University.

Those who have agreed to become Advocate/Trainers are requested to attend the final hour 2:30pm-3:30pm on February 3 and a followup online session 3pm-4pm CST Wednesday January 10. Advocate/Trainers will have until March 31 to complete the tasks on their home campuses.
