Contents
Proposal
- Requesting 2 lots of $5000 investment funding, totalling $10000 with a 10.2% return per annum
- First $5000 will set up 4 Permaculture designer workshops (one for each season)
- Second $5000 will set up 4 Permaculture practitioner workshops (one for each season)
- Both the designer and practitioner workshops will inter-relate in a running annual series of 4 season 2 stage workshops.
- All workshops held on participant premises.
- All workshops are stand alone and do not require full year commitment from any one person.
- Stage 1 = Designer workshop on variety of participant premises
- Stage 2 = Practitioner workshop implementing winning design from the design workshop
- Year long program with a designer and practitioner workshop for each 4 season quarter
- All workshops appropriate to the uniqueness of each of the 4 seasons
- Workshops are coordinated and facilitated by Otago Polytechnic and contracting experts for teaching and assessment
- Workshops use NZQA Unit standards as a basis for some learning objectives and assessment and compliment the Horticulture programme development
Course outlines
Related projects
- Otago Polytech Property and Services is investigating potential in establishing a rooftop community garden. A meeting with the project coordinator resulted in the suggestion that that project would be useful to both the designer and practitioner workshops
- Kim Thomas in Horticulture used to run permaculture short courses and has the teacher and resources in place to run these courses.
- Sustainable Dunedin is an effort to establish a community network around sustainability projects and will be a recruiting and dissemination ground for the workshops.
- Permaculture.org.nz is a network or professional and practicing permaculturalists and will be a source for supplement teachers and demonstration plots
