Hiding Issues

Individuals with brain injuries may try to pretend nothing is wrong due to stigma.

Family members of brain injured individuals may feel uncomfortbale with the intrusiveness of social workers questioning about issues which may be considered private to the individual with a brain injury and his/her family. These family members may take on the mentality that "everyone wash their dirty linen at home".

Other sensitive issues related to brain damage may include sexual difficulties and difficulties controlling bowel functions.
