How to Set up GPRS on a Sony Ericsson T630 on Safaricom Network (Kenya)

Step 1

Go to Connectivity menu > Data comm. > Data  Accounts > Select New Account > Select GPRS Data

Enter the following:

• Name :Safaricom GPRS
• APN :safaricom
• Username: saf
• Password :1234 (??)
• Press Save or OK
• Select Safaricom GPRS as the Data account
• Press Save or OK

Step 2.

 Go back to Connectivity > WAP Options > Wap Profiles > Select Safaricom MMS > Press Edit.  

Enter the following:

• Connect Using: Safaricom GPRS
• IP Address:172.022.002.038
• Select Advanced:
  • Select Change Homepage
  • Name :Safaricom
  • Address: http://wap.safaricom.com
  • User id : [blank]
  • Password :[blank]
  • Security :Off
• Press Exit until you return to main menu

Step 3.

 Back to Connectivity > Data Communication > Data Accounts > Safaricom GPRS > Select Edit

• APN: safaricom
• User id: saf
• Password: 1234
• Password Request :Off
• Allow Calls :Automatic
• IP Address :Leave it Blank
• DNS Address :Leave it Blank
• Go to Advanced settings
  • Authentication: Normal
  • Data Compression: Off
  • Header Compression Off
  • Quality of service: ignore - leave as set at set (usually set to “Subscribed’)

Exit and restart phone To Browse go to Internet Services > Select More > Home
