Theme: Achieving Millenium Development Goals through the use of Digital Open Educational Resources

Date: 22nd - 23rd November, 2006

Venue: The Panafric Hotel, Valley Rd, Nairobi - Kenya

Objectives

  • To bring together a selected number of educational practitioners from across the East African region to discuss the role of Free and Open Educational Resources in the East African Education.
  • To identify innovative and creative ways of partnerships to build Open Educational Resources as a direct input in the provision of life long learning and alternative education for all
  • To launch the first East African Free and Open Content Development group to spearhead the development of Free and Open Educational Resources using Wiki Technologies
  • To demonstrate and highlight several content production and dissemination technologies that can be used in the development of Free and Open Educational Resources

Expected Outcomes

  • A critical mass of Free and Open Educational Content developers in the East African Region willing to contribute on WikiEducator and FLOSS4Edu project
  • To bring together a selected number of educational practitioners from across the East African region to discuss the role of Free and Open Educational Resources in the East African Education.
  • To identify innovative and creative ways of partnerships to build Open Educational Resources as a direct input in the provision of life long learning and alternative education for all
  • To launch the first East African Free and Open Content Development group to spearhead the development of Free and Open Educational Resources using Wiki Technologies
  • To demonstrate and highlight several content production and dissemination technologies that can be used in the development of Free and Open Educational Resources
  • The launch of the first East African Free and Open Content Development group working under the FLOSS4Edu project
