Educators 2.0

Mission
We are a community of teacher leaders dedicated to providing a more equitable education for all. Everyone has something to teach and everyone should have the right to an open learning experience based on one’s needs, interests, and learning preferences. We provide the support necessary to build one’s personal learning network in a way that develops the understandings, skill set, and dispositions required to be a teacher leader in the 21st century.
Vision
To be the premier space for educators to interact on any given subject at any given level, and a place where teachers openly brainstorm, share experiences and knowledge, and reflect on new ways of promoting creativity through ongoing, social interaction.
Values
- If we are to become the premier space for educators to interact on any given subject, then we must continually seek knowledgeable educators in all fields, at all levels who have the "will", "expertise", "temperament", and "skills" (Sergiovanni, 2005, p. 43).
- If we are to become an open community, we will need to recognize the importance of diversity of opinions through an ongoing desire among educators to lead by ability and not by authority.
- If we as a community are to succeed, each of us will need to succeed.
Goals
- Find at least two teachers each month (for a period of six months ending July 31, 2010) who are compelled to teach classes on a regular basis (e.g., once a week).
- Find teachers who contribute to classes on a regular basis in a variety of academic subjects (i.e., math, science, history, the humanities, etc.).
- Find teachers who contribute to classes related to business endeavors that directly benefit the educational field.
