The structure of an OERu course website is divided into the following components:
- Course landing page: The course landing page provides a brief overview of the course. This is the page where learners can register for the course. Registration is optional and used to email course announcements and instructions. OERu courses may award badges or optional certificates of participation. Certification for participation is usually measured by contributions to the course using microblog, blog and forum posts. You will need to register the website url addresses you plan to use for the course on this page. If you inadvertently register the wrong url, this can be updated from the course landing page.
- Course guide: Provides overall information about the course and we recommend that learners start with the course guide, especially if you are planning to take an OERu course for formal academic credit. The course guide provides information on the course aims, teaching approach, recommended resources, assessments and required assignment(s) (if you are taking the course for credit.)
- Course dashboard: The course dashboard contains all the links you need for your studies. Bookmark this page in your browser. Copies of the course announcements emailed to students will be posted on the course dashboard. Most OERu courses are divided into sessions which refer to a unit of time for the registered OERu cohorts, for example a week or allocated dates for each session. Each session will direct learners to one or more learning sequences which guide your study of the learning materials. These sequences will include learning activities ranging from a short micro-blog posts to more comprehensive E-Activities which may be specified for certification of participation and/or sub-components of the assignments for formal credit.
