Creative arts

Creative Arts is a department within the Kenya Institute of Education.Three subject areas make up this department;

• Art
• Music
• Physical Education

Kenya Institute of Education has developed curriculum for these subjects across five levels of education ,that is:

• ECE OR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
• PRIMARY EDUCATION
• SECONDARY EDUCATION
• PRIMARY TEACHER EDUCATION
• DIPLOMA TEACHER EDUCATION

The Institute has also developed handbooks for the three subjects in order to help teachers interpret the sylabuses.Audio visual reources such as radio and video programes are also developed i the Institute. It is noteworthy that Art Educaton takes up different names within the three levels as folllows;

Creative Activities - EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION Creative Arts- PRIMARY EDUCATION Art and Design- SECONDARY EDUCATION Art and Craft- PRIMARY TEACHER EDUCATION ART and Design- DIPLOMA TEACHER EDUCATION

The development of any sylabuses ,handbooks or any other resources is done through carefully selected subject panels made up of experienced practicing teachers, educationists, teacher trainers and other related resource persons.
