Read Section 14.7: Sample persuasive speech, in Saylor Academy (Ed.) 2012. Business Communication for Success. (See page(s) 568 - 570 in PDF version.)
This reading provides a sample outline that will help you learn how to develop the five key structural parts of an effective persuasive speech: An attention statement, an introduction, the body of the speech (including main points and supporting information), a conclusion, and a residual message - what is it that you want your audience to think about after the presentation is over?
Looking at the 'Topic' and 'Purpose' sections in the table 'sample speech guidelines', think about what product or service you would focus on and why. Make a note of any key ideas in your Learning Journal.
Recommended: Consider using this outline and/or the video resource in this topic to help you develop your elevator speech in the learning challenge at the end of this pathway. We turn our attention to elevator speeches on the next page.
