The purpose of an elevator pitch is to describe a situation or solution so compelling that the person you're with wants to hear more even after the elevator ride is over.

—Seth Godin

An elevator speech or elevator pitch is a quick summary of something, such as your professional background and experience, a project you may be involved in, or a business idea that you have. It is called an elevator speech because it should be short enough to present to someone during a brief ride in an elevator.
