Practical Application
From WikiEducator
During your client intake procedure you should screen your client for any contraindicated medical conditions and medications (using a medical screening form). You should then ensure that you are aware of the implications of these things on your massage
Does this take time initially? Yes! You shouldn’t feel bad about it. Your client is probably more than compensated for their time by the student rate that you are charging them. It won’t take too long to become familiar with the most common medical conditions and medications, which will reduce the time in this part of the massage process.
You should also observe the body before you apply any massage techniques to check for any of the following contraindications.
- Broken skin
- Inflammation
- Moles
- Skin pathology
