Personal Information
Chimwemwe Felistas Chamdimba is an Agricultural Economist who works at Bunda College a constituent college of the University of Malawi. Bunda College is located in Lilongwe, the Capital City of Malawi. The College focuses on Agriculture, Natural Resource Management and Development Studies.
Education Background
Chimwemwe has a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics which she obtained from the University of Malawi, Bunda College in 2007. Her research thesis for the masters degree was on Economics of Agroforestry technologies in Malawi. She also has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture specializing in Agricultural Economics which she obtained in 2002 from the same university.
Experience
- Currently at Bunda College she is working in the Programmes Coordinating Office as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist of all Donor Funded Projects at Bunda. Presently she is actively monitoring and evaluating the Agricultural Research and Development Programme (ARDEP), a reserach and outreach programme which is jointly supported by the Malawi and Norwegian Governments. ARDEP is a National Programme which gives grants to scientists to conduct research and outreach projects that is being coordinated at Bunda College. In the programme, she has been actively involved in operationalizing a collaborative competitive research and outreach grant scheme, planning of project activities, and monitoring and evaluation of funded projects.
- Chimwemwe is also a lecturer in Topics in Agricultural Statistics and Computers in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics of The University of Malawi's Bunda College. Before joining the University, she has worked as a project officer for the Budget and Finance Committee of the Malawi National Assembly responsible for the sectors of Agriculture and Health. As a project officer for the committee, she was responsible for monitoring the implementation of the National Budget in the sectors of Agriculture and Health. She has also been a consultant trainer in Farm Business Management and Research Methods, Monitoring and Evaluation at the Natural Resources College in Malawi. She is good facilitator with experience in facilitating different conferences and workshops in agriculture, research and food security.
Research Interest
Her areas of interest in research include Rural/farmer Innovations and agricultural productivity, and Agricultural and Food Security Policy Analysis.
