Learning outcomes / Graduate profile

  • Outcome 1: Learners actively participate in the opportunities set out in the study material to explore what critical reasoning is and what it means to critically reflect on one’s own thinking.
  • Outcome 2: Recognize and understand various reasoning fallacies as obstacles to clear thinking.

Assessment

Assessment for this course comprises two quizzes, a blog and an assignment. In addition, students who wish to register for further study with Unisa and to receive recognition for this course in a Unisa programme, will need to complete a challenge assessment in line with Unisa's policy for Recognition of Prior Learning as informed by national legislation. The relative weightings are set out below.

For recognition of course completion

  • Blog (peer-assessment on blog) 20%
  • Quizzes x 2 (self- and peer-assessed) 30%
  • Assignment (self- and peer-assessed against rubric) 50%
