BCGBC4012A involves developing the knowledge and skills to read and interpret the views, scales, symbols, dimensions, terminology and key features of construction drawings, read and interpret construction specifications, incorporate customer variations into drawings and specifications and use the information when estimating for, planning for and supervising construction of low-rise, medium-rise residential and commercial building projects.

The essential skills will involve the understanding of the following:

• Indentify types of drawings and their purpose
• Apply commonly used symbols and abbreviations
• Identify and locate key features on all types of construction drawings
• Correctly read and interpret specifications in relation to the construction drawings supplied with the specification
