Berlese funnel

A Berlese funnel is conical container with it's small opening pointing down and with an incandescent bulb suspended over the larger opening. Once filled with soil, leaf litter, or other natural materials, the warmth from the light dries the material from the top down driving insects and other invertebrates into a preservative-filled container placed beneath the funnel.
