Open textbook project for Uganda
This project is intended to increase access to high quality education resources for both learners and teachers in form of open textbooks. Open textbooks like traditional textbooks can occur in both print and digital forms, however open textbooks have no copyright restrictions and in the digital form, they can be changed by anyone and can include interactive multimedia components which intrinsically make them readily amenable to learner centered approaches and hence easier to understand by students. They also have the advantage of always being up to date .Both hired and volunteer content creators will be mobilized to create high quality content in secondary school biology, chemistry and physics and compiled into books aligned to the Uganda curriculum. The textbooks will be posted online for access to any school and some prints of them will be made and distributed free of charge to secondary schools in hard to reach areas of Uganda for both help and advocacy purposes.
