Candidates should be able to take meaningful shorthand notes covering the syllabus theory and vocabulary at the required speed.

They should also have acquired the technique of reading back their shorthand notes logically, fluently, and according to context.

Candidates should be able to transcribe their notes correctly.

They should also have the ability to take down and transcribe outlines from passages with a syllabic intensity of between 1.2.and 1.3.

With the constant availability and exposure to literature, candidates should be able to expand their vocabulary and improve their reading skills.
