The photograph shows the instrument panel of a Cessna 172, depicting the direct reading compass, which is called the E-type. It is located in the fore-aft plane of the aircraft, and all bearings are obtained in conjunction with the compass deviation card. (Courtesy of Soroti Flying School, Uganda).
