WikiEducator API use | 0 | 15:17, 21 March 2014 |
I continue to think an Android application is not a high priority for WikiEducator at present.
There are two things that would be of more use:
- Static map rendering so that the maps were available within PDF and/or ePub renderings of pages.
- Mobile rendering for all of WikiEducator content (beyond what is offered by our reader mode. This would be an interesting project, but completely separate from a mapping project.
According to your suggestion, I've added static map rendering in my proposal which would allow the user to export map as pdf. I've also added functionality to allow the user to save the list of pushpins and the associated information as pdf/text file. I think it would be useful for them because using static map rendering the user can only save part of the map visible. But this would allow users to have with them the list of all the pushpins along with the information associated with it.
The user should be able to enter the latitude(s) and longitude(s) directly (in addition to the option of clicking at a location on the map).
- The API accepts POST requests (which should be used in preference to GET requests, especially for logging in).
