On successful completion of this short course learners will have an understanding of Open Distance Learning, its evolution and the underpinning theories.

Objectives

On successful completion of the modules learners will be able to:

1. Explain what Open and Distance Learning (ODL) involves and how it differs from traditional learning;
2. Explain why it is important to mainstream ODL in their countries;
3. Identify an appropriate ODL model for their context;
4. Consider appropriate HR strategies for open schooling;
5. Advise on most appropriate technologies that can be harnessed to leverage the quality of ODL in their context; and
6. Contribute meaningfully to ODL policy development and review in their countries.
