My favourite author is John Irving because the style and themes than run throughout his books combine the fantastic and unlikely with the authenticity of flawed relationships and powerful dialogue. The first book of his that I read was The Cider House Rules. My favourites are A Prayer for Owen Meany and The World According to Garp. I don't enjoy the film versions nearly as much because they cannot capture the intricacies as well.
