Well, I am George Mampilli from Fort Kochi which is an exotic hamlet embedded in colonial history. To the west coast lies the quiet Arabian sea. First Europeans to land at Fort Kochi were the Portuguese explorers followed by the Dutch and finally the British ruled Fort Kochi and Mattancherry... An ordinary fishing village was turned into a bustling township by the Portuguese. The Dutch hardly had any contributions towards Fort Kochi.. Ofcourse the British brought about speedy modernisation.. which gave a facelift to Fort Kochi which is rightly named as ' QUEEN OF THE ARABIAN SEA' Colonial monuments and majestic bungalows dot the township...
