GUYANA - THE CO-OPERATIVE REPUBLIC OF GUYANA

Guyana is located in South America. It is the only English speaking country in the continent. Previously known as British Guiana. Guyana is the only Commonwealth country in the continent of South America. It is bordered to the east by Suriname, to the south and southwest by Brazil and to the west by Venezuela. It is the fourth-smallest country on the mainland of South America (after Suriname, French Guiana, and Uruguay). It is one of the four non-Spanish-speaking territories on the continent, along with the countries of Brazil (Portuguese), Suriname (Dutch) and the French overseas region of French Guiana (French).

Guyana is considered a part of the Caribbean because of the Treaty of Chagaramas signed at the beginning of Caricom.

Guyana is known as the land of many waters because of the three great rivers that runs through it.

Guyana is a nation of six races and a mixture of the six races.
