This unit will introduce you to a variety of techniques that you can use for reading textbooks and journal articles, as well as other types of reading material that you will be exposed to as a student. Academic reading is something that you will get many opportunities to do. If you are struggling with reading don't worry, you will get better at it with practice.

By the end of this unit you will be able to:
- Briefly explain how to use the skills of skimming and scanning
- Briefly explain how to read indepth
- List at least three different reading materials that are utilised in tertiary education
