Activity

Task
1. In pairs you are to research, write and jointly deliver an interpretation on a local tourist attraction of your choice. (Local course).
As part of this task you will also lead the tour (fellow students) when at the attraction and be assessed on how well you demonstrate your interpersonal skills in a group situation. The checklist for this is in supporting material - (US 18364, Element 2, PC 2.1-2.3)
- A spoken interpretation of 5 minutes minimum is to be delivered
- An outline/plan (template provided) for your interpretation should be discussed with your lecturer before proceeding. Your interpretation must incorporate an "introduction, body and conclusion." It cannot be read straight from your transcript, however you may use cue cards.

Key Principles of Interpretation
Task 2
Individually you are to:
- Match each of the points below to a particular principle and then explain by providing an example of what you mean (PC 1.1)
a. the participants personality and experience
b. revelation based on information
c. is an art and therefore teachable, provocation not instruction
d. a whole idea addressed to the whole person
Task 3
Individually - describe the importance of and inter-relationship between the following essential ingredients of interpretation (PC 1.2)
a. interpretive messages
b. audience
c. setting and context
d. interpretive techniques
Task 4
Individually, describe a minimum of three interpretive techniques (methods), the media (materials) you could use with each technique and why the media enhances your interpetation. (PC 1.3) for example
