Section Overview

The Open Office suite has an application called Writer. Writer is a familiar word processing application with a number of unique and powerful features. Many people consider it comparible and even superior to Microsoft Word.

In First Steps with Word Processing you will learn how to use Writer to open and create new documents, save, export to different formats, use help and close documents properly.




Outcomes

In this tutorial we will:
  • Open (and close) the writer application
  • Open one or several documents
  • Create a new document
  • Save a document to a location on a drive
  • Save a document to different formats
  • Work with multiple documents
  • Use available Help functions
  • Close a document
