Dear Student,

Welcome to Session 6 of World History: The Early Modern Period. You can access all course materials for this micro-course on the website at anytime: http://course.oeru.org/whme101/

Congratulations on making it this far through the course! In this session we move from our previous focus on Christianity in Session 5 to consider the role of Islam in the Early Modern Period. In Session 6 we consider not only the spread of Islam in Africa, the Middle East and Asia, but the political and social impacts that resulted.

How important do you think religion has been in shaping the modern world? You may like to contribute to our course forum on this topic here: Religion in the Early Modern Period

Remember, its also a great idea to write a blog about your learning (and include the #whme101 course hashtag so a link appears in WEnotes), and to reflect on your learning by posting a comment on WEnotes.

Enjoy your learning,

Deborah
