Agenda for the July 2010 SCD workshop

[Day 1] 09.00

Introduction by SCD Facilitators (Darren, Niki, Pete & Trevor): Welcome, Network Set up, feedback and expectations

  • Use laptop and/or desktop - bring a USB stick for transfering between the two.

Forum Sharing findings from the institutional reviews and across the e-learning super cluster

  1. In informal groups of 5 (not with your own school): Share institutional reviews and create one PMI on large paper
  2. Plenary report to identify implications for you, schools, and the e-learning clusters
  3. Darren, Pete, Trevor respond linking implications to the vision of the Blended Learning Project (11 am after break)

Niki Davis: UC Course assignments review / Accessing UC Library

Trevor, Darren and Pete: Grouping students (final choice up to group members)

Lunch

Groups: Groupwork to support each teacher to scope your Personalised Blended Learning Pilot (PBLP) course 

Focus Question: What is personalised learning and how might it fit with blended online teaching within and across our super cluster of schools?

Work in small groups with assistance from each other and faciliators  (to plan ways to overcome pedagogical, organisational and technical challenges)

Outcome (by lunch on Tuesday):

  • Scope for each PBLP course's learning outcomes, structure and activities
  • Advice and strategies to design and implement these pilots in October 2010
  • Prepare and share 1 minute blurb on the scope of each pilot (Choice of medium: audio, written, online)

Groups: Critical friends on scoping how to personalise the learning in your online module

Carry on from Monday afternoon ensure that the following takes place:

  • Scope for each PBLP course's learning outcomes, structure and activities
  • Advice and strategies to design and implement these pilots in October 2010

1 pm Niki Davis: Course activities to grow the BLP community knowledge: Reading groups and the portfolio process
2 pm

Groups: Group support planning to facilitate reading around blended learning and use of portfolios

Forum: Report back from groups

Review of future plans including use of virtual PD days and requests for F2F November PD

There will be tea/coffee breaks at 1030 and 2.30pm day 1 and 10/2.30pm on day 2

You will need to bring your laptop and also a USB/ flash drive to enable you to work between the wireless network and UC computers.
