Beginning to understand OER

If I have learned nothing at all from this workshop what I have learned this morning from the free content tutorial makes it all worthwhile. (I am not saying that I have learned nothing by the way.) It has begun to give me some answers to the question I raised in the discussion threads on "barriers to participation" yesterday. It has also made me change my mind on my first project - I think I want to prepare a short discussion paper for my Board to try to get us to common understanding of what we mean in our current mission when we talk about "development of freely available education resources".

Fiona, How wonderful. A short paper for you to use to address your situation is a wonderful idea. Doing it here in the wiki means that others might be able to use it or adapt it for use with a situation that they have. I suggest creating this paper as a main page on the wiki. In my opinion it will have more visibility in the main space (as opposed to a subpage under your username) and you will have more opportunity for others to contribute (e.g., review) if you'd like.

I do remember the excitement I felt in those first few days after joining WikiEducator. Like you, I came away completely changed.

I agree with Alison, please share your discussion paper in WE! I'd be interested in hearing more about how your organization views OERs.
