There are plenty of sites with links to great educational resources for teachers - lesson plans, worksheets, assessments,... But there are remarkably few lists of great resources for kids! There should be, so here it is.

This sites are in no particular order. Resources must be about interesting stuff that don't need a teacher to explain. Activities for self-directed learning.

  • PowerMyLearning - collection of other good sources with interface for students - self-directed, competition. teachers - playlists, assignments, class/student monitoring. parents

  • Wikipedia for Schools - selection of articles from Wikipedia can be used by school children around the world. 6000 articles, 26 million words and 50,000 images
  • Wonderopolis - a place where natural curiosity and imagination lead to exploration and discovery in learners of all ages. Find learning moments in everyday life
  • Khan Academy - originally just videos to teach math, but topics have expanded greatly to include history, science.
  • MIT+K12 - Physics, Natural Science, Materials, Measurement.
  • [The Museum of Modern Art] - Printmaking, 1913 Centennial Celebration, Behind the scenes at MoMA, Abstract Expressionism, Artist interviews, Performance Art
  • IXL - math by topic and grade level - not exciting but good practice - free to use for practice without tracking, limited questions in each session
