My name is Tee Chwee Ming. I am from Kulim, Kedah, Malaysia. Currently, I am working with Wawasan Open University as a lecturer in banking and finance. This is indeed a new field of work for me as this university adopts an open learning concept which is still new in Malaysia. Wawasan Open University is the first private non profit open distance learning university in Malaysia. Basically, my job function entails developing learning content and teaching banking and finance course online using the Learning Management System. This is certainly a new experience to me as I am previously from the academic and corporate conventional field. Under the open distance learning business model, students do self study from their study materials. Once in a month, they will meet their tutors for a 2 hour face to face session. In this session students will go through a process of interactive discussion with their tutors. During the semester, students are required to complete 3 assignements (50%) and sit for the final examination (50%). In Wawasan University, students enrol for courses instead of programme. It is a flexible way of learning as students take courses according to their capability and time.
I received my Economics degree from UKM in 1996, MSc International Banking from Loughborough University, UK in 1999 and Master in International Business from Sydney University in 2002. I was awarded a DBA from FINSIA, Australia last December 2008. My field of research specialization is corporate governance, pay-performance,ownership structure and banking and financial regulation.
