Renee Jesness

I have 25 years of experience in teaching, staff development, educational curriculum writing, editing, and technology integration. Renee currently works as a media specialist. Renee has worked extensively with District Content Standards throughout the disciplines and K-12 education. Renee has been a Future Problem Solving coach and state judge in both Iowa and Minnesota. Renee is a Minnesota Board of Teaching member. Renee is currently a media specialist and is involved in a four-year district pilot laptop program.

I have a Bachelors of Arts in English Education from Western Illinois University, a Master of Arts in Education, Emphasis Library Science from University of South Dakota, and currently is working on a doctorate in Educational Leadership with Emphasis in Technology at Saint Mary's University/TIES. Renee has written curriculum and consulted in media literacy and technology with the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Science Museum of Minnesota, and Walker Art Center. Renee has been a member of a Global Design Team and presented several projects at Global Learning in the 21st Century, Copenhagen, 1998. Other international experience: Europaische Academy of Berlin - "The Reunification Question", 1985, "Improving University Teaching", Heidelberg, Germany, 1986, and National Standards - A tour of schools in England, 1996.

I have has taught Instructional Design and Children's Literature courses as an adjunct instructor at Mankato State University, and Metro State University. While on sabbatical Renee volunteered at the Jane Goodall Institute for Primate Studies beginning a digitization of the 350,000 pages of Jane Goodall's field journal notes. Renee believes that through technology society is experiencing a renaisance of creativity, sharing, collaborative learning, and global awareness. Renee believes it is incumbent on public and private education to have a technology integration plan and support teachers in utilizing these technologies in their teaching and in student learning.
