Introduction

Unix is multi-tasking, multi-user operating system which makes it more complex than other operating systems like MS-DOS. In order to run UNIX operating system correctly, number of steps must be followed and procedures be executed. The failure of any one of these will fail the system to start. Also, it is important to shut the UNIX system gracefully, so as it keep its state of consistency intact. A UNIX machine should never be just turned off.
