My Profile

My name is Michael Francis Clarke.

I am a retired Curriculum Officer(Geography)and have been invited to be a subject specialist for Geography to help produce material for Distance Learning in the Distance Education Unit of the Ministry of Education in Trinidad and Tobago

Professional Background

Geography Teacher; Principal; Curriculum Officer. Part of the Examining Team in Geography for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC)examination set by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC)

MY ROLE

My role is to assist in the production of Geography course material, initially for 4th year secondary school students 15 years old and older. Knowledge and skill in using wikis will help the team to collaborate freely at times convenient to all, where getting a common time to meet face-to-face is a challenge.

BA Hons Geog (Waterloo), Dip Ed.(UWI, St.Augustine)

My Interests

Improving the learning and teaching of Geography in Trinidad and Tobago.

Professional

Personal

I have been a Geography Teacher for 40 years in Trinidad, Trinidad and Tobago. I am married and father of two (a son and a daughter) and have one grandson.

I was an Executive Member (including President)of the Geography Association of Trinidad and Tobago (GATT) during the decade of the 1970's and am now an honorary member.

I have been involved in workshops for Geography teachers in Trinidad and Tobago, either as a facilitator or organizer, especially while I was Curriculum Officer (1998 -2002).

Now that I am retired, I lecture part-time to B. Ed students in a course on Geographical Skills for Social Studies Teachers at UWI's School of Education during the second semester.
