Term one is an introduction/orientation booklet and then we concentrate on fiction. Each student keeps a reading log that is filled in during the library period each week recording what they are reading (finished or not) and comments on the book. In the Introduction/Fiction skills boooklet ther is a map of the library where students find the different areas and features. A brief exercise on the difference between Fiction/Non Fiction/ reference material and how to find fiction using the library opac. Our main task this term is a 'Fiction Presentation" Each student chooses one of the books they have enjoyed recently or are still reading. A booklet with headings helps with plot ideas and themes. They take an aspect of the book - not telling the story - and make a static image which is then presented to the class with a short speech.
