The National Agricultural Research Act of 2005 establishes the National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) as an apex body, responsible for policy, coordination, funding and quality control of agricultural research in Uganda. The Organization is designated as the oversight and coordination body, which makes national agricultural research operate as a system and not as individual components. NARO comprises the NARO Council (NAROC) as the governing body, three standing committees as the technical arms of the council, and the NARO Secretariat providing management support to the council and performing day-to-day business.
