I've got the same problem going, and it's driving me bats. Maybe a glitch in the wiki? Awfully nice of you to leave me a message at my page, and do people call you 'Randy', 'Randolph' or 'Jay'? Tallong 02:09, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

The problem I was having with my watchlist was corrected (or corrected itself) and things are tickety-boo. The question what people call me is complex. I grew up being called Randy, but have chosen to be addressed as Radney in an international context because for many speakers of (particularly Commonwealth) Englishes my "first name" is a rather objectionable adjective. When I was casting about for an alternative Randolph did not appeal to me at all. Then I remembered that in many boarding schools it is common practice for the 'inmates' (smile) to address one another using last name; I tried using it at a linguistics conference in the UK six years back, and it seemed to work well. So, I've stuck with it.

Well, we could always call you 'Rad', which was my generation's version of the earlier 'bad', which of course was 'good'. Or I suppose 'JR', but then people would be asking who shot you. (I know you're old enough to get that, hee, hee.) 'Radney' it is! Tallong 22:14, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Rad was what they called my father in the military (so that would be fine!) :)

Yes, let's stay away from Dallas references (a nice place to visit--briefly--but the total of 6 years spent there would have been totally unendurable but for the people we got to know...)--Jrradney 23:17, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
