Code of conduct are those laid down norms and values that guide the behavior of members of any profession. In the youth development practice field, our code of conduct should be focused on empowering young people to recognize their basic human rights and to harness their potentials, which really is their ‘Power and Influence’(their energy, creativity , dynamism,) for a more productive life. Hey everyone,

Young people’s rights are human rights and in a nutshell Human rights are those rights that are an individual is born with as well as entitled to and are meant to be protected by the government of the day through a constitution. These rights include right to life, to association, to express oneself free, to good health, clean and safe drinking water, an education, health, shelter, to vote and employment among the few.

Decent work is that work an individual does that does not humiliate or degrade the person in question. It can comprise of favourable conditions like clean and safe environment, respect and the person able to receive a salary for the work done.

Luckyluka,
I agree with you that power and influence among the youth is brought about by the youth being energetic and active. It is also worth noting that youth have a lot of power from their demographic strength. They have the capacity to influence each other , positively and negatively, since they are faced with similar challenges and can relate much better with other youths.

Hi,

Simply put, there is no dispute that young people's rights are human rights.

Decent work means that the working condition are safe and enabling and that there is no exploitation in terms of renumeration
Code of ethics are the set guidelines that dictate the conduct of members of an organization, or profession. Remember that youth workers stand in the gap created when in one hand society wants to maintain order and status quo by sometimes locking the youth out and on the other hand the struggle of the youth to be involved and take part in society processes. This effectively means that youth workers should be bound by a code of ethics that will ensure that the interests of the youth are kept first eg transparency, co-operation, integrity etc

Marcosmburu (talk)04:53, 5 April 2011

Young people's rights are provisions by governments and/or international organisations aimed at enhancing young peopl's well being and protecting them from any form of oppression. Decent work is about having a safe work environment.

Code of Ethics relates to organisation's beliefs which empolyees are expect to abide by. Code of conduct is a set of rules tat guide the behaviour of employees. Ideally, the Code of conduct should have implications (sanctions) of not adhering to the rules

Mulakom (talk)02:00, 9 April 2011

Young people's rights are provided under the human rights as contained in the Human Rights charter, African Charterand the children's rights. These are rights to life, to speech, education, health and an adequate standard of living. These rights drive the youth enterprise agenda. Young people have the right to decent work, work that pays them adequately commensurate with the work done.--Smauye 12:54, 14 April 2011 (UTC)
