Definition of governance

How are you planning to define "governance"? - wikirandy

Good question- just to be clear - the governance node is not about governance of the wikiEducator community as such, but relates to COL's programme work in governance for development. Hope this makes sense. --Mackiwg 23:31, 4 June 2007 (CEST)

eGovernance Educator for Officials

Dear friends,

I have submitted a paper on Documentation in eGovernance by creating a category eGovernance Educator for Officials. I would like to develop further material in association with WikiEducation Community.

Greetings; interesting post

Hi Anil,

Greetings - I noticed that you haven't completed your user page - it would help our community get to know you better - could you put up a photo and some bio information please? If you need some help, please let us know - we have WikiNeighbours who are roaming the neighbourhood to help you get oriented!

Regarding the WikiGovernance stuff - I am working with Tanyss Munro, COL's Education Specialist, to develop this area as a resource - your postings so far look great...We'll have to work on the navigation, so that it's accessible to as many people as possible, that are interested!

There are many models

This is a great start - I think there are many different models...and it is through the interweaving and layering that one can find a model which can be further 'tweaked' according to local and cultural and political considerations - all very exciting stuff!

Wait,to listen more..[edit]

Yes.This is what I have been waiting for. I mean, this has to be brought out that there are many and different models. There are two ways through which the interweaving and layering can be made possible. i) A thorough study of concepts ii) An exhaustive survey of working models which are actually in practice. I am gathering material for both purposes. Why not let us wait and listen to a few more persons whom I am pursuing to join us?

Sounds great!

That HRD has another expansion namely, Human Rights Defenders is an eye opener to me. I have found out during my studies another aspect of TQM as Total Quality Movement rather than 'management'. The topics leading to the discovery of a practical global model of governance culture need to be organized.

"Communication,HRD(human resources development) and TQM" is a paper I had presented in a University in South India. I am waiting to get the No Objection Certificate from the authorities to 'export' the content here.

"Words have four dimensions. But the ordinary folk is aware of only the fourth dimension of speech." Rg-Veda.

One thing is certain. We have all potentials awaiting our realization of them.

Towards a sample model.

"Culture" is often taken for granted or overlooked. Notions of culture do not amount to culture proper. Hence let us begin with an attempt to clarify what we mean by culture. It is understandable that neither value without meaning nor meaning without value have any validity and authenticity. This understanding facilitates a practical definition of culture as a set of values and meanings within a given context in particular and in the global context of being human in general.

A community without a set of values is just gossip. The community facilitators, and not mere responding members, ought to have pristine clarity about the values which make facilitation of ideas and their practical implementation possible, effective and successful. Hence the need to contemplate on COLLaGE values.

Before going further, a word of caution and alert regarding the values. I feel that the values are best understood as the higher instincts(aspirations) of humankind. The fact that the values have given birth to different religions is eclipsed by the popular notion that religions have given birth to the values. This is evident in the cases of persons of value-integrity who do not have popular religious inclination. Not to mention about the so called religious persons who have anti-human propensities or inhuman impulses.

The mention of ahimsa need not bring in any ism like Jainism or Buddhism though humanity cannot afford to be ungrateful to Masters like Buddha. What is meant here is this. COLLaGE values are to be evolved in the light of human sensibility, maturity born of assimilated experience and practical pragmatic perspective of being human in the largest and deepest context of sharing knowledge globally the Wiki Way.

Now let us find what guidance our conscience and consciousness provide regarding:

i) Is culture a necessary element here? ii) Which culture? iii) In what way the regional avatars of cultures (should)go into the building blocks of COLLaGE? iv) Do they build blocks or roads to effective and successful governance?

Let COLLaGE be an abbreviation of Culture Oriented Learning Leverage at Governance Education.
