Dear Lions, wish you all a lovely week. Please remeber to send me the school visits by Monday. Upload of this assignment is on Tuesday. Shumi will lead next weeks wikichat from the begining on 913M.

913M Assignment

Dear Lions, I will hand over to Shumi for the nest 30 minutes for discussions on this assignment--Luisaserra 16:35, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Luisaserra (talk)05:35, 29 June 2009

Lions, the long and short is this:

  • On the 2nd of July there will be a luncheon at the school (Our Event)
  • Thanks to Luisa’s influence we have co-joined our event to Coca-Cola’s Corporate Social Responsibility day.
  • Donors in the form of NGO’s have/are being invited to meet the school leaders and find ways to address the different needs they have.
  • Coca-Cola are giving the school a motorbike with a small trailer. This is our first/only donation thus far.
  • A newsletter to be used as a marketing tool for the school and event has been e-mailed to all of us. Lions members are to use it to solicit for donations in their various circles. This is important, even if the donations come after the event.
  • I may not be able to attend the event though…Am still trying to make a plan to join Luisa. Everything has happened so fast and I was hoping it would be a weekend event…and its not. Shungu or anyone else are you able to attend?
  • The communications manager at Coca Cola has been greatly assisting us with this event. We will need to get contributions from the “Lions treasury” to buy her a thank you gift.

This is the basic plan. I invite any comments.

Shumimlingo (talk)05:41, 29 June 2009

your team has done tremendously very well on this assignment. getting coca cola to be part of it is show stopper and surely give the added leverage on the event.we will do our best to see how we source funds to support the project.

Akachi Ngwu (talk)05:46, 29 June 2009

Thanks Akachi. We've tried to use all the leverage we have. on the coke move....Luisa's influence has been exploited to the max. --Shumimlingo 16:49, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Shumimlingo (talk)05:49, 29 June 2009

What a wonderful newsletter you have. Was it a Lions production? Excellent. When should all donations come in and how?

Victor.mensah (talk)05:47, 29 June 2009

Newsletter was i 100% Lions production...In fact we should put a copyright sign with a lions logo!! Which donations Victor...for the gift or for Salama?

  • If for Salama...we have to deal with them on a case by case. There will be issues like currencies etc to deal with.
  • If for the gift I'll let you know a little later this week.

--Shumimlingo 16:54, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Shumimlingo (talk)05:54, 29 June 2009

You should mark it with a Shumi production logo.Lol

Good work guys.

JEREMIAH CHAPHXANYA (talk)06:00, 29 June 2009

yes, we require copy right protection for the newsletter, what do lions think?

Akachi Ngwu (talk)06:05, 29 June 2009

do we have invitation cards for this event?

Akachi Ngwu (talk)05:48, 29 June 2009

We didn't forget your idea Akachi. Invitation preparation time was a bit tight Akachi. Details of the event and date were released late last week. On the last page of the Newsletter, we've put an invitation. Our idea was this would cater for the lack of a formal invite --Shumimlingo 16:58, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Shumimlingo (talk)05:58, 29 June 2009

please its good we have an invitation card as our appendix in the main assignment.that will add value to the report.

Akachi Ngwu (talk)06:02, 29 June 2009

ok..we'll do our best on this. --Shumimlingo 17:07, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Shungunyoni (talk)05:54, 29 June 2009

Akachi Ngwu (talk)05:58, 29 June 2009

912L - Visits to blind or disabled schools in the countries

Dear Lions, Nobody has sent me the visit to a blind school in the respective countries, what must I do. I was thinking of putting it in an appendix to the report, I would like to hear from Victor, Hove/Kay go and Akachi--Luisaserra 16:18, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

i have identified a blind school to visit here in Lagos. to do that on tuesday, hopefully i should send in the pictures the same day.

Akachi Ngwu (talk)05:20, 29 June 2009

Hi Akachi, Thanks for that, please send the picture and the school on a condensed form an in word document that is not 2007 (vista) because I will not be able to open. Tuesday is the last day to upload the document in the EDS, your time is 3 hours later than Uganda so please do that early otherwise it means for me waiting until very late for your document--Luisaserra 16:24, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

My dearest Luisa,

I have unfortunatley been unable to visit a like school. Apparantly, there is no specially serving blind school that anybody knows arround me. I got information about a school for persons with disability some few kilometers from here but that information and the directions to the place got to me later. Monday will be my last attemtp to get to the school. I hope it wont be too late? I will compress the pictures and send with a short description.

Victor.mensah (talk)05:24, 29 June 2009

Hi Victor, as I said to Kay go, please go and see even if it is a disabled school. Thanks for antecipating my IT challenges. If you send it on Monday you will still be ahead of Akachi, please try your best otherwise it will penalise us.--Luisaserra 16:26, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Luisaserra (talk)05:26, 29 June 2009

I and Kago have experienced some clearance problems with the police and the ministry of Home Affairs need us to be cleared with so many government departments. We are still working on trying to overcome this despite facing these challenges.

I have challenges there l went and l was told l need clearance from the Ministry of Education because there are saying some people are using the vulnerable to source for donations so it was so involving. How serious is the penalty because here its only one school.--Shungunyoni 16:26, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Shungunyoni (talk)05:26, 29 June 2009

Hi Shungu, can you make a plan?--Luisaserra 16:29, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Luisaserra (talk)05:29, 29 June 2009

l will sleepover it and see what l can do for sure l am stranded--Shungunyoni 16:35, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Shungu, I do not know how serious the penalty is, just if you do not answer all the tasks in the assgnment it means penalties--Luisaserra 16:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Luisaserra (talk)05:33, 29 June 2009

Another question are just submitting a photo without a small write up like the school you visited,in brief what you took ,how they run the school--Shungunyoni 16:39, 28 June 2009 (UTC)?

Shungunyoni (talk)05:39, 29 June 2009

Hi Shungu, I believe even if you do not have a phot and can write a small summary on the school that would be ok.--Luisaserra 16:42, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Luisaserra (talk)05:42, 29 June 2009

Lions Sorry my n etwork connection at home is not working.

I am using my friend's computer. luisa, I have seen yo email. I am having challenges to get a clearance which allows me access to the school.

I am trying my best and will keep you informed early next week.

912L final discussions

Hi Lions, I have not got any feed back on the contents of the drafts (work in progress) that I sent, I hope I have not created a lot of confusion, that was not the intention. Any concerns or comments you may have please let me know.--Luisaserra 16:04, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

just as you mentioned, the drafts came in torrents as one was confused. a quick questions i noticed you sent part 1 to part 8 yesrterday. is it different from the ones previuosly sent.

Akachi Ngwu (talk)05:08, 29 June 2009

Hi Akachi, part 1 and 8 are basically the final of the document after my last visit to Salama on Friday. The reason why I was sending in separate parts is because I do not know how to condensed the photos, which Victor has kindly helped. I will only be attaching the appendixes, with the interviews I have doen, the pareto charts on the PLE exams and End of term reports results. The recomendations part will be attached from Shungu and I on Monday--Luisaserra 16:12, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Luisaserra (talk)05:12, 29 June 2009

a big thank you to our IT whiz kid.

Akachi Ngwu (talk)05:15, 29 June 2009

Hi Luisa, i sent the joined version to you and your team only. I dont knwo if you fowarded to everybody yet.

Victor.mensah (talk)05:16, 29 June 2009

Hi Victor I have seen it but arrived in Kampala at 6pm and the wikichat was on at 7pm Uganda time, so I want to consolidate , based on the quality checks doen by Shungu over the week end and send it to you all still tonight. Once again thanks--Luisaserra 16:21, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Luisaserra (talk)05:21, 29 June 2009

I have just gone through and its making a lot more of sense to me now as i have them all together. I was a bit worried about the flow, as a lot of content was presented as lists/bulleted. Was wondering if it may make it any better to utilise a lot more of paragraph/naratives. This is however a minor point and may be disregarded.

Victor.mensah (talk)05:09, 29 June 2009

Hi Victor, thanks for that we will look into it and see where it is excessive to improve on it.--Luisaserra 16:14, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
