Hi! Welcome to my user page. I hope you find this information useful. My name is Alfonso Sintjago. I am a PhD student at the University of Minnesota. I am currently interested in promoting the use and production of OERs. I am also interested in conducting research projects and studies that would help increase the effectiveness of OERs. One of the aspects that I am currently very interested in is the production of OERs in multiple languages. Having an interest in preserving endogenous cultures as well in the implications of modern technologies for the the improvement of human life, how should technologies be adopted and appropriated? Between the local and the global, where does the balance lie? I believe that OERs are a great collaborative contribution to human society, but to prevent the erosion of local values, we need to increasingly promote the local development of OERs. By doing so, materials will not only be free but also contextualized. Information and education should not only be openly accessible, but they should also address the needs of the local community.
