Role of e-Resources for Research in Higher Education


Introduction:
The last few years have seen a number of changes in research in the higher education sector which have exerted pressure upon the traditional role of the academic resources. The teaching and learning have changed a lot and moving towards online where face-to-face interaction is given less importance and autonomy is given the priority in the learning process.<br/>
Information and communications technologies (ICT) are having a major impact on materials for research in higher education in India. ICT can provide novel or enhanced forms of research resource, as 'e-resources', and better access to non-e resources. The term Electronic Resources (e-Resources) is used to describe all of the information products that a library provides through a computer network. This includes electronic books and journals, bibliographic databases, and library website pages. In higher education institutions e-journals are available online through Internet and Web. Organizations are initiating e-publications and also providing On-line services to users for learning process and researchers are acquiring varieties of skills in using Internet for collecting authentic materials for research.<br/>
