Recommendation 36 Access from outside schools

Recommendation 36. We recommend that the Government consider whether the Network for Learning should be accessible not just from schools’ premises.


Comment: Learners should be able to work from home and while commuting. Therefore the services should be accessible off premises.
A practical problem is the cost of traffic to the home if not within wi-fi range and the use of the school wi-fi for irrelevant content (such as films) including by other family members.
There is some technical work which needs to be commissioned in this area to cap any such missuse. --Ian Mitchell FIITP 00:08, 23 January 2013 (UTC)
