some projects I work on
Being the information officer for our section and dealing with a global initiative, my days are well filled between managing/editing our DESD website, overseeing our publication process, writing reports, briefings and speeches, playing public relations and receiving visitors, etc.. as well as working on awareness campaigns on sustainability issues with the private sector, such as Cities around the World; on learning and training material development with colleagues in Natural Sciences (in particular on Biodiversity and Climate change issues), in Social Sciences (on urban issues), in Culture (on cultural diversity, as well as natural & cultural world heritage), in Communication (on a resource kit for media professionals) – see GVVR e-modules I worked on for an international school project -, and also on internal awareness training about “green” behaviours and environmental responsibility for our own staff.
This Green behaviour awareness is what I want to develop my content resource on.
It’s fun and interesting but makes for sometimes hectic agendas.
Outside work, I am on the board of the UNESCO Children’s Club for staff member’s kids, and also an adult volunteer with my daughters US Girl Scout troops on environmental issues (yes there are US girl scouts in the Paris area). I prepared with the 200+ Girl Scouts an event in February on recycling and reusing materials.
