Objective

  • People credited with this unit standard are able to: operate a computer, reservation system as an information and business tool; complete new travel arrangements using a computer reservations system; amend and cancel travel arrangements using a computer reservations system; and cost travel arrangements and action a ticket print request on a computer reservations system.


This unit is used in the following courses

Suppliers, in the context of this unit standard, may include wholesalers and direct suppliers.


Operate a computer reservations system as an information and business tool

  • Computer system is used in accordance with the applicable operating manual.

Range: log-on, encoding, decoding, schedules and availability displays, log-off.

  • CRS ‘queues’ are managed in accordance with enterprise procedures.
  • Reference information is utilised which meets the requests of customers.

Range: reference information must include but is not limited to - flight service information, displaying local time, travel information, general information, minimum connecting time.

Complete new travel arrangements using a computer reservations system

Range: evidence is required for a minimum of one single sector and one multi-sector reservation - adult, child, infant.

  • Passenger name records (PNR) are created which contain the mandatory fields.
  • Special requests are completed in accordance with customer requirements.

Range: may include but are not limited to - frequent traveller details, seat requests, special meals, passenger status (VIP, CIP), children and infants’ ages, total complete party (TCP); evidence is required for a minimum of four special requests.

  • Accommodation reservations are made in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Rental car reservations are made in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Amend and cancel travel arrangements using a computer reservations system.
  • Air sectors are amended and cancelled in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Accommodation sectors are amended and cancelled in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Rental car sectors are amended and cancelled in accordance with customer requirements.

Cost travel arrangements and action a ticket print request on a computer reservations system

  • Travel arrangements are costed in accordance with customer requirements, enterprise procedures, and suppliers’ requirements.

Range: costings - airfares, accommodation, rental car.

  • A ticket print request is actioned in accordance with enterprise procedures and suppliers’ requirements.
