Do you find it difficult to distinguishing between what managers and leaders do?

Watch this video on Youtube, where retired US Navy Submarine Captain L. David Marquet, talks about leadership, management and how he tried to turn all his subordinates into leaders.

Notice how each of his examples involve very little in the way of detail about how to do the tasks at hand. This video gives a great example of how leadership is not management or, put another way, how managers manage work and the people who fill the roles complete that work, where as leaders lead people by providing direction.

Having viewed the video signpost, please share one "take-home message" on WENotes below. For example, consider how managing would fit into an organization where the leader tells you what you must accomplish and then you have to combine resources to make it happen.
