Resources: The resources listed in this section are designed to provide information for students. The resources are:

  • BYOD brochure - this brochure explains the BYOD program me at Papanui High School. It provides some background information and gives details about the network.
  • BYOD Guidelines - this document provides some details on how to take care of and look after their devices.}
  • 10 BYOD Tips - This document looks at some of the resources that students can use on their devices. Some have already been covered earlier in this course, such as papNET and Google Apps and MyPortfolio will be covered in the next module. The others may be of use to the students as they become more familiar with their devices and include: Livebinder - this is a virtual folder tool that allows students to organize their resources and Twitter.
  • Backing up data - this page looks and explains the importance of backing up their data.

All of these resources the students can manually mark as having been completed, depending on whether they access and use them or not.

Tasks: The first task that students are required to do is to complete a survey on BYOD. The idea of this survey is to give us some idea as to how many students have already brought their own device into school and how many are thinking of bringing one in. The survey can be viewed at BYOD survey. Following this there are four tools for the students to explore. These are Answer Garden, Wallwisher, Wordle and Twitter. Included in these pages are examples that the students can have a go at. You can't set up Moodle (papNET) to make sure that they complete the task on the page. It will mark the activity as complete if they view the page, so you may need to encourage the students to add answers or comments to the examples given.
