Web resources which could be useful for the pamphlet activity

The following links may be helpful as starters for the pamphlet activity.

For Italy, Argentina (Spanish), France, Russia, Japan, and Namibia* I'd try http://translate.google.com/, which has phonetic written translations

For Georgia http://www.aboutgeorgia.ge/language/phrases.html?page=1, http://ggdavid.tripod.com/georgia/language/gphrases.htm,

For Samoa http://www.omniglot.com/language/phrases/samoan.php,

For Fiji http://web.archive.org/web/20071203060035/www.geocities.com/fijidictionary/eng_fijian_dict.html, http://www.fijiguide.com/page/the-language, are both far from great, but better than nothing.

I have had no success finding an online Tongan language translator.

  • Namibia is 'officially' an English speaking country, but Afrikaans is also widely spoken
  • You may opt to include either Uruguay (Spanish) or Romania (whichever country qualifies for the Rugby World Cup 2011 in November 2010) the languages of both can be found in http://translate.google.com/
