Aim

The LiDA Community Learning Hub initiative is an open collaboration to:

  • Facilitate greater reuse of the Learning in a Digital Age (LiDA) micro-courses within our international network for the benefit of students.

Summary of meeting

1st Meeting of LCLH initiative
  1. Attendance: Aedah Binti Abdul Rahman, AeU; Becca Trathen, Ara Institute of Canterbury; Claire Goode, Otago Polytechnic, Dave Lane, OERF; Hanani Syadwan, AeU; Lyn Benn, KPU; Fazilah Chefauzi, AeU; Rachel Phegan, UTAS; Rajiv Jhangiani, KPU; Ramesh Chander Sharma, AUD; Sheril Salleh, AeU; and Carmel O'Sullivan, USQ.   2. Provided an overview of the Learning in a Digital Age micro-courses
  3. Summarized the various landing pages for learners to submit an expression of interest and logic flow chart behind the Mautic automated email campaigns for course instructions for independent study and cohort-based offerings.
  4. Advised participants on code development for registration on the OERu course sites now integrated with the Mautic CRM.
  5. Invited individuals and OERu partners to join the national Centre for Open Education Practice as international partners.
  6. Requested meeting participants to circulate information about the next LiDA cohort offering commencing on 7 August 2019 with students and staff.
  7. Proposed the collaborative development of ancillary resources (e.g. slide show presentations, lesson plans etc.) to support face-to-face sessions in support of the LiDA micro-courses including, for example:
    • Sessions offered by university and community libraries.
    • Integration of one or more LiDA micro-courses within existing programmes.
  8. Decisions and recommendations
    • The LiDA Community Learning Hub (LCLH) initiative must operate within the existing institutional policies, practices and contexts, for example:
      • at KPU offering online or face-to-face tutoring in collaboration with their learning strategists through the Learning Centre website for registered students,
      • or positioning LiDA as a pre-degree support offering for learners at UTAS,
      • OERF reaching out to community libraries managed by the Dunedin City Council,
      • Incorporating LiDA as a component of faculty development in India, possibly utilizing the government sponsored MOOC platform for local credit recognition.
    • Use the design of the face-to-face sessions to customize the offering for targeted interest groups, eg tourism, architecture etc where learners focus on identifying digital resources for their respective interest areas.
    • Next steps: Establish forum list for LCLH and send email invitation to attendees to join the LCLH group on community.oeru.org.
