The University of South Wales is one of the 10 largest universities in the UK. It delivers a distinctive, high quality curriculum which is tailored to learner needs using dynamic, flexible and open delivery methods that works for our students and which fits with their needs and aspirations.

The University of South Wales has as its mission:

"Transforming lives, economies and communities through accessible, distinctive and responsive education, innovation and engagement."

To do this the University's vision commits it to "Accessible, distinctive and responsive education" which will be achieved by "enabling flexible, open learning that works for our students and which fits with their needs and aspirations."

To be true to itself the University of South Wales has taken a lead in the development of Open Education in Wales and has linked with national and international partners to achieve the development of open education.

The University of South Wales is grounded in a widening access approach to learning and partners with the OERu to build on its local achievement in widening access to extend higher education more widely on an international scale.

The University of South Wales believes that flexible, open, responsive learning, using OERs, is highly appropriate for upskilling workforces as well as developing younger learners. The University has a vision of higher level learning which is not in big chunks, but is responsive to the needs of the learner wherever they are located.
